So what’s the way around that? More burner accounts seems to be about it, which means less camaraderie. I hate we lose what makes us better, in order to better survive the fascists.

The way around it is to not have a public online life.

If it’s too late for that, find someone else with a similar name to you, and use AI to start posting in their writing style.

Burner accounts won’t help much. Somewhat fuzzy association of details from different sources to create a complete picture is what AI is good at (not very precise but with reasonalby good results).

The only actual way around is not sharing stuff you don’t want to share. Omit details in publically accessable online stuff, only share those properly encrypted (with people… not with systems).

You can poison the system with false information about yourself, I suppose. For example, when I was twenty-two, I worked as a ranchhand in Montana for a year. After that, I spent a long time posting as /u/POTATO_IN_MY_ANUS on Reddit and became quite well-known.

Right, but if I have 290 accounts then it’s not like it can piece them together if there’s nothing tying them together like an email. And if I stopped sharing my love for tasty tasty white chocolate, what hope is left?

Honestly, if we are prevented from sharing our authentic selves, or at least who we want to be online, there’s not much point in social media. Everyone talking at one another without ever revealing anything real or true about themselves? It sounds absolutely hellish. Everything I hate about interacting with other people, and none of what makes it worthwhile.
