No, no, no. They’re not gay, they just struggle with same sex attraction, at least that’s what they say. Honestly, makes me think they’re a bunch of fucking casuals.

My wife’s a teacher and there was a (male identified) teacher during a staff meeting that made it a point to come out as bisexual. The thing is though, his (female identified) wife is a teacher there and was at that meeting. Soooooooooooo?

Did you tell your coworkers and wife for the first time during a team meeting? Because it was a shock to the librarian (wife).

Because there’s nothing wrong with being a bottom to your wonderful trans wife, and I wanted to clarify that being married to a cis woman does not immediately make me straight.

i’m all for people’s rights to do whatever they want with whomever. I don’t care. Have fun and stay safe but it’s a staff meeting, for a school… why the hell is claiming your sexual preferences at a STAFF MEETING even considered appropriate?

if someone did that at my work, I’m just leaving the meeting or disconnecting the call. I might say cool, the hang up but really… I don’t have time to listen to someone’s sexual preferences when I have work to do, plus… I just don’t care nor would most sane people.

reminds me of a joke by stand-up Anna Bianco (paraphrased best I can):

I had a coworker once that sent the whole office an email saying that it was asexual visibility day, and that he was coming out as asexual. like, that’s fine, Kevin, but we’re at work. we’re all asexual here.

I have no idea of the context of the conversation. Maybe that was the topic being talked about.

In terms of the biggest point, straight people announce their straightness all the time yet it’s rarely noticed, commented on or a problem like it is for queer folk.

If you apply this rule to everyone, that’s a lot of people you’re labelling insane.

what? I must be blind to straight people talking about their sexual preferences as a big announcement. any examples I might be able to apply?

and yeah, it applies to everyone. don’t do it in a meeting. it’s not an agenda topic that Dave likes the company of men and women over say… why are the kids having a hard time with English?

granted I don’t know the whole context either and it could be more along the lines of 'the kids are questioning, how do we educate them. hey, I’m bi-sexual and can explain these topics to them .

like sure, that’s fine but to just make a ‘coming out of the closet’ scenario at a school office meeting? come on … that’s pub talk

Straight people announce their straightness all the time? I’ve never seen it.

Its because its normalized to the point where it does not seem like an announcement man.

Its like how you could have two teachers, each with a photo of their spouse on their desk, but no one bats an eye if the spouse is the opposite gender but they loose their shit and call it indoctrination if the spouse if the same gender.
