Basically, I feel it is extremely hard to find posts on lemmy via the search function. I tried searching the reading list by our comrade cowbee@lemmygrad.ml and just couldn’t find it so i had to go unto their profile, click on a post where they linked the reading list and then click on that link. If I want to find something on reddit I simply type “soviet realism site:reddit.com” into google and find a bunch of posts. I could even specify the subreddit if I wanted.
If I type the same thing into Google, but replace reddit with lemmygrad.ml, then I won’t find anything at all. Probably has to do with how lemmy works I guess, but the search function on the website itself is equally trash with showing posts that have nothing to do with the query or ommiting posts that clearly should be included, but aren’t.
Am I doing something wrong? I wanted to find a discussion on soviet art because my girlfriend wanted to know more about it since she is an artist and I just can’t find anyone ever talking about any form of art in the ussr on this website.

Whenever I like a post or comment with good information, I always try to save it by clicking the star icon. That’s usually my main way to find information that I need later on.
As for the search in Lemmy, I always try to remember a keyword of the post/comment that I am looking for and/or the author of the post. With those two search points, it is easier to use the Lemmy search. The more you can narrow the search, the better it will be.
Regarding the Soviet Art, it may help to search for the community first(example https://lemmygrad.ml/c/socialist_art). Then, in the search bar to the right, enter a keyword that you remember from the post.
