from non-US NATO countries didn’t like that.It turned out that there were a handful of people who had been in one branch or another of the US military in my own family and not a single one really talked about it in any detail. (I never asked any questions so… that’s on me) And I wonder to this day if I would have enlisted had anybody just casually, over the course of my childhood, found a way to mention how being in the military wasn’t all that great one a good day and crimes against humanity on a bad day.
