New accounts creations of the whole fediverse went up by 100k today
NOTE: This graph does not show the entire fediverse, but only mastodon. Hopefully OP can change their title to reflect this.
Does lemmy allow editing titles - or is that up to each instance and in that case, does lemmy.world allow it?
Yes. You should be able to edit posts.
And also it’s not really due to reddit, it’s mostly the twitter changes that make their users switch to Mastodon.
That is also correct. This post is just very… wrong.
Raw number of accounts doesn’t seem meaningful as long as captchas are off.
Apollo refugee here learning about this new federated world. Is this specific to some servers? I signed up to lemmy.world and lemme.ee to have a bit of an explore and both required a captcha.
If memory holds, server admins can require any of (or none of) capchas, email verification, or manual approval for making a new account. They can also fully disable the ability to make accounts.
no creo que se molesten en registrarse con bots en un sitio que ni mercado ni beneficio hay…
I don’t think they bother registering with bots on a site that there is neither market nor profit…
Let’s keep it up, this place is great. I have not missed Reddit. Feel like I was in a cesspool without knowing it
Totally.
There was a former reddit mod on here a few days ago talking about how a small percentage of users make most of the posts/comments there. Personally, I’m glad to get away from that.
There may not be much content here, but at least the average person can be heard.
It’s actually quite refreshing typing out a comment and not just erasing what I wrote right away like I would always do on Reddit. I always felt like there was hardly a point putting effort into comments on Reddit, unless I was on a more niche sub.
So other people had this experience? Happy to know I wasn’t alone and going crazy.
Exactly. Feels like my voice is actually heard here. I’m enjoying the smaller community for now 🙂
This has been an easier transition than mastodon. On Twitter I relied on specific people’s content to feel like it was worth my time. Not all of them moved over or posted much
On Reddit I just need replies in topics and it can be by anyone
I’d like to move to Mastodon so badly, but none of the people I follow (mostly YouTubers) have moved there so I don’t have any reason to be on mastodon…
with lemmy it’s way easier because I don’t need certain people to be here
Are there really over 10 million lemmy users? I almost don’t believe it
This isn’t just Lemmy. It’s also Mastodon and other activitypub services.
Ahhhh, makes more sense. Mastodon blew up considerably earlier.
Nearly 13 million apparently. The active users count is more useful for weeding out bots and people who sign up and then forget about it. I’m not sure where that stands.
This says 300k but I’m not sure how updated it is and what the figure includes https://fedidb.org/software/lemmy

Long may it continue. I haven’t felt this optimistic about something in ages
I thought being a Reddit Refugee was going to be tough but I’m pretty happy with this setup and using the beta of Memmy. It’s like a fresh start
Same over here, memmy is amazing
Any word on memmy App Store approval?
Most likely got rejected otherwise it would be available rn i think
where does one acquire memmy?
Theres a testflight version available, just look for the link its pretty easy to find,
I just got a message that the beta is full when I tried to download it.
Maybe people don’t know which instance to use and just made several… Raw stats doesn’t show the real number of people. I made like 4 on different instances when I joined.
