Thanks, Imma quote this when some dumbass shrugs at me and says we’re all fucked and there’s no hope left. Like, I get feeling depressed about the state of things but it’s such an obvious cop out that it makes me livid whenever I hear it.
Remember that acknowledging how bad things are going or passed goals in trying to stop climate change for example isn’t “doomerism”.
Its very hard to not succumb to doomerism 🙁
optimism & hope are skills to practice, and they do get easier over time!
on a bad day, i’m optimistic out of sheer spite because i know being pessimistic only helps my enemies & not me, but it’s also a lot easier to practice optimism when regularly meeting with groups of like-minded people.
if you don’t have any groups nearby you (or online) like zine makers / queer sheds / leftist book clubs / privacy activists / maker spaces / community supported agriculture / whatever it is that floats your boat, you might be surprised by how many people are willing to sign up if you get the ball rolling! 💪

It is, however, take note of your newsfeed (whatever your daily input of information is) if you don’t see ANY good news in there (and like, genuine wholesome good news, not AI puppies on a bike) you do have to put in the effort of steering your feed to include good uplifting news. Because how we view the world through our scroll machines often doesn’t match our actual surroundings.

We need more focus on what the individual can realistically do today.
