Wij hebben een magnifieke taal.
There’s five Dutch words, and two gibberish.
Eh, the cuckstoel I can see being added to the dictionary at one point.
But the other is half German half Dutch, and doesn’t make sense in either.
Suggestions from a non-speaker:
een poepscheet
Iemand heeft scheetgepoept (?)
poepscheet = shart
I sharted myself (again)
Just saw that the photo is actually from the original cuckstoel meme, with some added coloring.
This is especially funny to me given that I’m fluent in German and English, Dutch being closely related, plus I am actually learning Dutch, and I still couldn’t tell.
Which ones are the gibberish
Poopensharten and cuckstool.
so the title is correct?
nein
Poopensharten is a word I’m going to be stealing, thank you
‘gewundersniffle’ is one I invented as a replacement for gesundheit
HA! Said it outloud and yep. Perfect. I’m using this now too, thank you for this
Fun fact:
In standard Dutch:
- poep = poop = shit.
- Poepen = to poop.
In Flemish/Belgian Dutch:
- poep = backside (as in the poop deck, the French la poupe = backside).
- poepen = to fuck. Etymological root comes from pop(children’s doll), root is probably the latin pupa=doll/girl. I assume the English puppet also comes from the latin pupa. Poppen used to mean playing with dolls. Poppen became poepen, perhaps through the influence of poep/la poupe.
This is entirely irrelevant knowledge, but I find it kinda adorable and interesting.
It’s also quite funny because kids will anounce they’ll go pooping on the toilet; “Ik ga poepen op de WC.” which will get some raised eyebrows in Flanders.
