The negotiators argued that Republicans’ “flat refusal” to move on Democrats’ earlier proposals made clear that “this is the best possible offer we could secure.”

    You fucking twats

The best possible offer is “we give up because the Nazis turned out to be stubborn”? Absolutely useless. They gave up on the one thing that was revealing the Republicans’ real nature to MAGA voters.

After a sweep in elections that took place less than a week prior.

This isn’t a bunch of deluded idiots acting on principle, it’s a stage-managed operation to scuttle the fight for healthcare, and it goes right to the top of the Democrat party.

Been resisting the idea of the Democrats being “controlled opposition”, too conspiracy theory, but fuck me, at this point I got no counter ideas.

Fetterman is already a traitor to his constituents, so no shock there. But the rest are cowards.

“They are steadfast that they won’t negotiate on the health care credits.”

Yes, and they have no way to justify that stance, particularly while people are furloughed and going without benefits. The stronger they hold that posture, the more it highlights that this is their stance and the more they show who they are to the people that can still be saved from MAGA madness.

“People are hurting and going without their SNAP benefits”

Yes, a problem which is entirely of their own making with absolutely zero justification and in open defiance of the law and the courts.

“We’ve guaranteed a vote on the tax credits in December.”

A completely empty gesture. You have already said that they were stead fast against it. They would not even negotiate on it while you had leverage. Now you have no leverage. The outcome is already clear and your guarantee means shit.

“We included in the deal that all the fired furloughed workers will be rehired and all furloughed workers will be given back pay.”

So, backpay for furloughed workers is already supposed to be the law. And I’m pretty sure that firing them during furlough is probably also illegal, or at the very least it’s simply unprecedented behavior. If they even follow through on this part of the deal, and I’m not sure that they will, A) these are not wins for the Dems, these are a wash. Like your bully steals your lunch money and a teacher makes him give it back, but otherwise gives no consequences for the theft in the first place. The consequences of the theft were corrected for now, but the root cause, the fucking thief, has not been corrected. B) Absolutely nothing about these goons’ behavior has been in good faith. And all of these agreements, ultimately, end up going through Trump, anyway, who doesn’t give a fuck about your deal with anyone and would love to screw you over. So… what did you gain?

You are cowards. You negotiated with terrorists. That’s what they are. Ideologues who were intentionally, callously, and even gleefully inflicting pain on the American people even before the shut down, to instill fear and ensure their ends. You finally had leverage on them, though. The shutdown was painful, but it was a pain for them most of all and it was to ultimately prevent even more pain for everyone to come. But you blew it. To save face and end temporary pain suffered by a few, you have guaranteed greater pain on all of us including those you think you saved. You’ll pat yourselves on the back for ending the shut down and then you’ll pretend like what’s to come was in no way your doing. But it will be. Get fucked, all of you.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t that happen almost every time? Like I vaguely remember these arguments being used regularly.

Yes, because the actual function of the Democrat party is to maintain the status quo by diverting energy from real opposition.

The Democrat party once again performing its true function as a diversion pipe to dump energy which should go to building a real opposition party directly down the drain. They selected a subset of liars & scumbags who are retiring and/or are not up for re-election next round to get the job done. The fecklessness and worthlessness of the Democrat party couldn’t be any clearer, it’s on full display right here, right now. Read their statements in the article. Every one of these pieces of shit needs to be purged.

Now watch as the GOP reneges on its “promise” to hold a “vote” on the health care subsidies in due time.

Just left messages for both my Senators begging them to change Dem leadership. I know it’ll do nothing, but it was that or start drinking again.

Jeanne Shaheen won’t run for reelection in 2026.

John Fetterman, Maggie Hassan, and Catherine Cortez Masto’s terms will end in January 2029.

Everyone else has even longer left, from what I saw.

This was stage-managed beautifully, wasn’t it? Schumer even got to vote no this time in order to take some of the heat off.
