My physical therapist tells me it’s not that my muscles are weak, it’s that my ligaments are made of boiled noodles that refuse to keep my joints in their proper place. I have a lifetime of unrecognized hypermobility to contend with. That damage to joints is cumulative. I’m not risking popping a joint out of place just to help someone move.
I just turned 40 and I go on 40 mile hikes in the mountains with 10,000 feet elevation gain. I am assuming the people making these comments are sedentary and moving is one of the only times when they actually have to use their bodies.
There’s a saying “the less you do, the less you do” that is applicable here.
Yeah it’s worrying seeing so many people my age claiming that they are falling apart. I’m 35 and my body is fine. The only wonky thing is that my face feels like it sets on fire if I yawn incorrectly, but I’m pretty sure that’s a TMJ injury caused from stress clenching rather than age.
The meme’s about people having their back in shit shape or that they’re basically invalids when they turn 30 are wild. I wonder if the ones memeing about it are 15 and 30 is basically a grandpa or if they’re 30 but haven’t had a day of exercise in their life.
I don’t think there’s lack of green third spaces in Finland but the same issue persists.I don’t know what you mean by “state forced-breeding programs in athletic spaces”
I just think it will help people relax and focus on their bodies to be somewhere physically healthy they can focus on how being in a body feels, rather than if they’re performing body to script enough to not get hsssled while minding their own biz.

Never really exercised. Took my kids (9 & 11) on a hike to the creek. “How much further daddy?!” “Whole trip’s only 1.2 miles, we’re about halfway.” <howls of outrage> We started elementary gym class, every single day, with a mile jog.
Around 30+ is when you first start noticing that you’re aging and just might not be 10-foot tall and bulletproof much longer. Maybe they’re exaggerating?
is probably a lot of it. You’re always the oldest you’ve ever been, and (as far as I know) everyone only ever experiences aging the first time. Everyone’s constantly pushing into unknown age territory and no one has the benefit of comparing how they feel now to how they’ll feel in the future, it’s just now vs when we were younger and likely fitter.

I lift over 45000 total volume per week and do 300 miles a month on the bike in addition to my weekly BJJ. What’s your routine?
I’m just not dumb enough to conflate the ability to lift a couch and having bad knees or back.
If a few 35 year olds can’t move some furniture, then yes, they are weak as fuck.
Athletic people never have back problems. Or knee. Never. It makes you perfectly healthy and invincible.
