What is it? Slow, slow is what it is.
Which instance did you try?
Im getting VERY fast speeds in 1080.
Connection Speed 764 KB/s Network Activity 0 B ⇓ / 0 B ⇑ Total Transfered 11 MB ⇓/ 0 B ⇑ Download Breakdown 11 MB from servers · 0 B from peers Buffer Progress 46.2% (52.6s) Buffer State [36s, 1m28s]Also, you have to “apply” to join, and they may say you’re not suitable.
Came here to say this. I want to love it, I really do, but I just can’t handle the slow
The video above is slow? Is this a common thing? I cant get it to replicate no matter how hard I try.
EVERY video is slow. Dunno what to tell you. Maybe it’s because I’m on the arse end of the world, but it’s always a crapshoot whether or not a peertube video will actually load for me or not. Even this one buffered for ~30 seconds before it started playing, which is just too long for it to be a viable yt replacement just yet. I’m getting > 100 mbps down on this machine, so it’s not my connection
ETA: I will say, after writing this, I tried a few others, and it does seem to be better than the last time I tried it, so maybe this was hasty. They do still buffer much more than yt, but they seem to play consistently now at least
They did a TON of work on the UI lately. And the federation works a lot better last couple of years. Mostly due to community servers popping up. Glad you are getting it a bit better now than before.
For me it loaded up almost immediately…but I also have 1000+ MBPS connection so…take that with a grain of salt.
“Classic” fits. It’s crazy how long PeerTube has been around. This video (original) is 7 years old now.
Wow thats crazy! Ive been having a blast finding videos by real people. And it works very well. I am able to watch all sorts of stuff I dont see on YT.
Good concept, terrible execution
