I’ve been germinating seeds in rockwool cubes and while they sprout just fine, they consistently end up drowning after a while. I struggle to managing the water balance correctly - they’re either too dry or too wet. I am currently in a dry climate.
Has anyone else dealt with this? Any tips on how to maintain the right moisture level?
Would love to hear what’s worked for others using rockwool (or anyrhing else, really) for germination.

I was having trouble with lettuce germination in oasis cubes. The seeds would sprout but most would die before rising up out of the cube. I think they were suffering from damping off because I was keeping the cubes very wet all of the time and oasis holds a lot of water. I since added a small fan to the germination area for more airflow and I let the cubes almost dry out between waterings after the seeds have sprouted. That made a big difference for me.
Good tip. Airflow could be an issue. Issue is that keeping them damp is difficult. Either they’re too wet or bone dry.
