I had a webTV that never went faster than 33Kbps.
In what way is digital text data analog?
If you’re saying that the data stream arrived over a modem, or the crt display was analog - well, that’s all true of 1gbit fiber internet and an LCD pixel array - layer 0 is always analog
Teletext isn’t Internet for one thing, it’s digital data encoded into spare parts of an analog TV broadcast. It’s unidirectional so you could only read data, not send any. The information was presented as a series of “pages” like the WWW (which in several ways inspired Tim Berners Lee’s concept) but it’s basically just a stream of data that was interpreted by the TV receiver.
Pretty clever stuff and it was huge, I remember doing classes on making teletext pages in school.
Yep, I’m familiar with it.
The data is digital, all data channels and display devices are analog.
even DVB and ATSC allow for carrying Teletext data https://www.etsi.org/deliver/etsi_en/300400_300499/300472/01.03.01_60/en_300472v010301p.pdf
