It could also be due to the fact that a lot of fandom’s/fan communities are dominated by white people so nerdy poc appease the white leaders of these communities by not speaking out against injustice.
I see this with my cs degree now where the POC in my classes either inherit the opinions of the white professors or dont speak up at all. The amount of anti China hatred in western cs classes is wild and some of it comes from the Chinese diaspora who will protect white ppls feelings.
