Dark Souls 2 is the worst “souls-like” from From Software and it was still game of the year when it came out.

I haven’t played 2 yet, but I found the first Dark Souls to be kind of a boring slog to get through in the second half of the game. I had to force myself to finish it. Is 2 really worse than that?

The second half of Dark Souls is unfinished and rushed. I dread it every time I replay because it’s full of bullshit (Lost Izalith), beyond anything in DS2. It is quite a bit longer, though, so depends what you define as a slog.

It was really fun for the first part of the game, but it just kinda felt like it went on for too long. I loved Bloodborne (played it through twice) and I 100%'d Elden Ring. I do want to beat them all eventually.

The second half of DS1 is notoriously underdeveloped and not liked by most fans. It’s still ok probably but definitely not as good as the first half. So I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

On a different note, I also don’t vibe with DS as a whole too much, myself. Platinumed Bloodborne and Sekiro, Elden Ring was ok, Lies of P might just be my favourite among soulslikes, Last Berserker Khazan was also awesome… DS just feels a little too slow for my taste. So maybe you don’t vibe with that slower, more methodical style of gameplay?

It’s amazing. It’s a good blend of Bloodborne and Sekiro with more direct storytelling and beautiful visuals plus atmosphere. Some bosses can be a little tough to crack at first but most are good

DS1 has you revisiting the same areas a couple times to advance further, which can get players stuck and lost in areas they should have left early on, and then feel frustrated when they do finally have to revisit it.

DS1 is the game where really go from feeling like a wretched zombie in prison to being a veritable god. Poise chugging 14000 hp worth of estus is a thing available to you eventually.

It was kinda cool slapping on Havel’s armor, not being able to run really and just tanking hits and smacking people around like little babies.
