      Aren’t countertariffs only detrimental to us, if they don’t have the effect of the US taking down their tariffs?

        Not really, it’s a way to shift the consumers to buy products from elsewhere instead of US. It’s how you cut off the reliance of an unreliable trade “partner”

            I mean China exists last I checked, and they’ve said they would like to do more trade with Canada. Instead, Carney keeps trying to fight a tariff war with China while bending over for the US.

              Well, China-bad and all that, so for now we ain’t doing that. If the material conditions worsen enough, public sentiment would change and I suspect he’ll pivot. We’ll see.
