    As crazy as it sounds, this actually makes sense for Reddit from business perspective.

    Reddit wants to keep users inside the app(kind of making Facebook style super app) so, you get all your needs from the reddit app.

    I expect Reddit actually to slowly turn off their privacy, till it becomes the new Facebook, with boosted reach by the algorithm to accounts who identify themselves by their real id.
