Yesterday, I went with my son to watch the new Superman movie. Superman! The ultimate superhero, a character created by two Jewish immigrants, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, in the 1930s. The character is supposed to represent hope, justice, and light.
The actor playing Superman? Jewish. The studios? Owned by Jews.
Even the character of Superman himself, symbolically and historically, is considered to have Jewish roots. A refugee sent from crisis and war to save a better world, created to empower the Jews who returned from the Holocaust.
And what did the pathetic progressives in Hollywood do? They trampled all over this. Instead of presenting a character who defends the weak and fights for justice, they turned it into a disgusting political caricature, where Israel (under a different name) is portrayed as a fascist state, a warmonger, and a close ally of the U.S., which supplies advanced weaponry to fight “poor and miserable farmers (the good Palestinians) with pitchforks and stones.”
And Superman? He comes to save them from bloodthirsty Israel. This is literally a film of incitement against us.
I sat there, next to my son, watching how the film had one purpose: to brainwash the world. They took the ultimate childhood hero, who was supposed to represent absolute good, and turned him into a one-sided, distorted, superficial propaganda tool. They ruined my childhood, they ruined the experience for me, but not only for me, they ruined it for the next generation.
Because my son, with his innocent eyes, asks me: “Dad, why is Superman against Israel? Isn’t he Jewish?”
So let’s talk about hypocrisy.
About how the progressive Jewish studio owners, who hate Israel, hide behind this movie, sitting in their luxurious homes in California, feeling safe in their ivory towers. I, for one, salute James Gunn for making the bold move to make such a timely political statement in a superhero movie of all things, BUT especially a SUPERMAN movie. Superman would completely step in to stop a genocide, and it’s such a fantastic way to point out the fact that this atrocity is literally supervillain levels of evil that, yes, a superhero WOULD fucking come to save those people. And you have to ask yourself, if you’re siding with this abysmally evil country against Superman of all heroes, what does that make you? I have no doubt that Siegel and Shuster (Supes’ creators) would themselves take a stand against Israel’s actions, even though they were Jewish, they were front in center to the atrocities perpetrated by the Nazis that they’d no doubt draw the parallels immediately, and probably would be horrified at the things that are done in the name of Jewish people.

From the quick google searches I did there is no evidence that either Siegel or Shuster ever discussed Israel. Shuster died in '92 and Siegel in '96, so they we’re definitely around during the time. Apparently, from what I can find, they were both secular Jews too, so I don’t think they would be pro-Zionist in any way, but who’s to say? I can only go off of what kind of material they were writing for Superman at the time, which had very strong progressive (some have even called the early Superman ‘Socialist Superman’) values. It doesn’t seem to me that that kind of sentiment transfers well to a hyper-nationalistic state like Israel, or even the US for that matter. I think they were just two kids that hated injustice (I believe it was Jerry’s father that was gunned down in a robbery).

Unfortunately not an assumption that can always be made. Elie Wiesel, author of Night and political activist, Holocaust survivor, and activist against human rights violations, was a secular Jew and a huge Israel proponent. Shuster and Siegel may have been secular Jews, but more importantly they were Americans in the mid 20th century. Can’t hold your breath they had good Palestine takes.
Truth. I guess I’d just like to imagine they would, but like I said before, who can tell? I’m a Superman fan so I really hope they would be against Zionism. It’d break my heart to find out they we’re also virulent Zionists, or even sympathetic.
And maybe I’m being too cynical. It’s for the best they didn’t make any public statements either way.
Yeah, they seemed to have been the type that didn’t really step into the spotlight. I’m sure they did interviews, but as a Superman fan in over thirty years I’ve never seen or heard of one (although I’m sure there’s at least a couple, I really should look it up). It’s easy to get jaded when so many seemingly good peple turn out to be vile.
