“I have no doubt that your day of liberation from this tyranny is closer than ever. And when that day comes, Israelis and Iranians will renew the alliance between our two ancient peoples. Together, we will build a future of prosperity, a future of peace, a future of hope.”

That sounds familiar…

It’s funny how they think an even remotely democratic Iran will have anything but contempt for Israel.

They don’t care about “democracy” they want a puppet state that bows down to Empire. Like Jordan or Egypt.

Certainly true, but I strongly doubt that would work out in Iran, especially since it already has strong alliances with Russia and China.

I wouldn’t call these “strong” alliances. Russia has a quite ambiguous relationship with Israel, including having let Israel bomb Iran allied/proxy militias in Syria, when Assad was still in power.

Russia and China are profiting off sanctions against Iran, as Iran cannot develop its industries for selling on western markets, instead selling raw or low level processed resources to Russia and China.

It is more of an alliance by necessity against the US as the main geopolitical rival and its proxies in West Asia as the main regional enemies to Iran.

Fair enough, but the necessities that produced the relationship between them aren’t going anywhere anytime soon; Russia still needs their Shahed drones, Iran needs non-Western markets and weaponry and China is perfectly happy to profit off the misfortune of everyone involved.

You realize Iran forces gays to transition to female, routinely kills protestors and women who won’t cover their hair? Not to mention supplying weapons to Russia to kill Ukrainian civilians

Is this the hill you want to die on?

It’s possible to hold two thoughts at once. That both Iran is ruled by an authoritarian and retrograde regime. And, that Israel and the US are threatening the Iranian people with death in order to put a new authoritarian retrograde regime in power, but one that obeys Israel mandates.

Both things are true, and they both suck.

Note how Netanyahu emphasizes the involvement of the US, while the US tries to distance itself from it.

Israel wants to drag the US into war against Iran, so Israel can watch as the US does the heavy lifting and has soldiers sent back in coffins.

It’d be just perfect if after all the bullshit he’s done Trump got impeached for asserting the US’s right to control its own foreign policy (or “critically undermining Israel’s right to defend itself” as they’d put it)

Except the billionaires who bankroll him make money from war. War is a win win for everyone who already has more money that they could ever spend in their lifetime.
