important: i’m as noob as a noob can be when it comes to linux. i have been using linux for a few months now bc i hate big tech, and i’m trying to learn gradually, but i know next to zero about coding and downloading stuff from github and stuff like that, please be considerate of that if anyone tries to answer me 🥹

i’m someone that likes downloading many memes and pics for communicating in messaging apps. however, when i try to attach a file to a conversation, my pictures are shown like this (a big list in which i have to click every picture one at a time to find the picture i want to attach), which is kind of annoying. does anybody know how to show the images in more of a gallery view?

I can see some unofficial XFCE guides for getting .webp thumbnails working, but I haven’t seen a Mint one so use them at your own risk. (Works by default in Cinnamon)

I use Cinnamon too. It shows the thumbnails on the folder itself, but when accessing it through other apps/sites it only shows in this list format.

Maybe something like hydrus. Its an offline hosted image-board on your PC. Its allowed you to tag your images for easy find. You still have to find the image in the app and right click it and open in mint image view then right it there again and choice “Show containing folder” option. Keep in mind that the flat-hub version is unoffical but you can also run the official windows one through wine. There are other media managers too.

Actually after writing all this, i remembered you can just copy the image by right clicking the “Copy” option in the normal file manager and just “CTRL + V” the same way you would past text. Try here if you want and it also words for me on whatsapp, discord, lemmy. so i think it works on OS Level
