There’s been a flood of reposts here and it kinda sucks for people like me who make original content here. It has practically killed all my motivation to make new posts here.

I’ve made a lot of new stuff here but I have also reposted 3 of my older interactive games. The difference is, these games were taken down by a previous hosting site so they would have been gone forever had I not reuploaded it to share with you all.

But there’s a bunch of people reposting stuff thats already been avaliable on the imgur archives. That shouldn’t be allowed.

I’d love to make more new content here but this issue has got to be addressed first.

It’s incredibly disrespectful and demoralizing for me and the other original content creators on here to see our posts been drowned out by the sea of reposts. There was a guy who literally made 10 reposts at once thats such bullshit.

If it is a repost from Reddit, to preserve and have a copy or legacy here, I see no issue with it.

But if it is a lazy repost, it can be deleted imo

The problem with all of this is we need moderators. I’m the only one that checks in as far as I know and I haven’t been here for 5 days. There’s nobody that wants to do the work.

Maybe we restrict reposting on a certain day and all other times they get deleted? Just trying to offer a solution.

Myself, I didn’t know there was an archive and I’ve posted 6 reposts since I started 20 days ago to avoid flooding the board. As long as there is a sticky post of the archive or a post in the sidebar which has the rules so everyone has access to it I’m fine with banning reposts; I only posted these as I wanted people to have access to some of my favorites which I had saved to my drive.

I didn’t see any post on here with a link or mention of the archives before or I would have just been lurking like I did on the old reddit celebeconomy, celebfun, and celebapm.

With that said, the archive you linked below is lacking plenty of previous reddit content. For instance the Hospital Resident and Celeb Family I reposted don’t seem to be in the google document you linked, unless someone can find them under a different name?

We’re split on this. It is disrespectful to flood the community with reposts and not giving proper credit to the original creator.

At the same time, is it the same thing having a game here on lemmy as having it on the archive? We say no, it is not. We can’t interact with an archived post. If we play it and want to put it out there how we played it. With or without lots of narrative text the content creator doesn’t see it.

One way to fix this maybe is make the archive as a pinned post so it will always be accessable and only allowing one repost per user and only on one weekday. With rules about giving proper credit.

That sounds like the perfect compromise to me. We already have a “Rule 34 Tuesday” so having it on a set weekday makes perfect sense

I agree. Flooding reposts feels like clutter. New games we haven’t seen before are much better
