The instance is dedicated to politics. Authoritarian politics at that. The top level domain .ml belongs to Mali. They aren’t fans of Mali. They use it because it has similar initials to Marxist Leninism. Which is the ideology that worship. The administrators run the instance like a vanguard protectorate. Going against dogma will instantly get you banned from many communities. And depending on how inadequate the admins are feeling, even the instance.

This can be a problem to grow a community in many levels. Visitors simply losing access for pushing back against bad logic etc. Many instances block the ML instances for that reason. And even on those that don’t like world plenty block it at the user level like myself. I’ve tried to engage in good faith but it just isn’t there. And have had friends banned by paranoid administrators. Simply because we were being the same NAT, and the thought it was some ineffective attempt to brigade. With what, 2 accounts? It’s just a bad time dealing with ideologues.

The community is set up on Lemmy.ml which is known for being an obnoxious tankie instance. If you don’t want to waste your time arguing how Ukrainians aren’t Nazis just because Putin said so, you’d better, too, stay as far away from that server as possible.

This community is dedicated to 3D artists and animators. What has that got to do with Ukrainians or Nazis or Putin ?

Yeah. And that’s exactly why it’s not an ideal spot to set up that community.
