Some people in social democracies just want to see their bank account number go up, especially tradespeople/petit bourgeois. They complain that salaries are too low and taxes are too high, and that if their country was like the US they would be better off, ignoring all of the social infrastructure and comfort those high taxes bring, because they have a solipsistic view of the world, where society isn’t there to help them but it’s in the way of their success.
