    It should be clarified, bird feeders are discouraged if they attract deer, erk or moose since that would be illegal feeding of those animals (which is to prevent the spread of disease specifically). You can certainly still have a bird feeder otherwise.

      consider using black sunflower seeds and not mixes so you can benefit native species that stop by

      my biggest challenge is keeping the squirrels away

      I found using a long wire connected to a hook and placed 5 or 6 feet from the ground and the hook. Then make sure to trim any branches that might let them jump from.
