Be like me and start reading on your phone. Then instead of pretending to be on your phone to avoid awkwardness you get super invested in whatever you’re reading and now you’re genuinely annoyed when someone walks up to talk or the thing you’re waiting for happens.
People do this then post they’re lonely
I’m so bad I do it in video games … There’s a game where you can open up a menu that displays to other players so I open that up when I’m on transit systems so I don’t have to deal with the annoying “look at me look at me look at meeeeeee” annoying people lol

When you go down to a major city you land your ship in a hangar and then take the transit system into the city to shop or whatever. It’s actually pretty cool, it makes visiting a major city into a bit of a trip.
That’s me attending vendor-sponsored happy hours for the free food and drinks.

Seems like just sitting alone in a restaurant without looking at a phone would make you seem even weirder and more unapproachable.
Believe it or not, I’ve eaten a whole meal alone at a restaurant without looking at my phone and I wasn’t even escorted out.

Yup 👍🏻 And if I’m wearing fucking earphones and you try to talk to me, then you’re being the asshole, not me for ignoring you. And majority of the time I’m actually listening to a podcast I’m interested in, so I’m legit annoyed if I have to pause my shit.
