    Gandhi’s work is highlighted by capital because he wasn’t in any way responsible for ending colonial rule. If there hadn’t been violent resistance all across India, Gandhi and his followers would have been squashed like so many non-violent movements before and after.

    Not a terrible idea, but won’t do much against a government that doesn’t give a shit about their constitution. They don’t need a legitimate excuse to enact violence. They’ll just do it.

    It could show the world at large that claims of violence are illegitimate, for whatever that’s worth. Though it’d also put protesters at a disadvantage if others come in to enact violence on them, so keep that in mind.
