Coasting off of the success of Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure four years prior as well as MTV’s The Idiot Box, Alex Winter (Bill S. Preston, Esq.) wrote and starred in Freaked! Keanu Reeves (Theodore Logan) has a more minor uncredited role as Ortiz “the dog boy.”
Also features Bobcat Goldthwait and Gibby Haines of the Butthole Surfers.

The European Cut contains two scenes not in the US Theatrical Cut:
- The Freekz playing Wheel Of Fortune without Ricky the morning after his first show.
- Ricky says his goodbyes to all the Freekz one by one before he is intended to kill them all.
The company is instead named Everything Except Trainers.
