Paramount is determined to kill Star Trek, I fucking swear.
I am so with Nathan Fielder about Paramounr Rn. Didn’t expect new Prodigy and we were lucky it even hit Netflix and it’s an absolute shame cause that show kicked ass. It was for a younger audience but it was a great star trek show for thar audience. Holo janeway teaching a bunch of Disney star wars characters how to be star trek characters was great and something trek should have been encouraged to keep doing. Having a kid’s shoe makes a lot of sense. After becoming a trekkie I noticed how many of my favorite episodes of kids shows ripped off trek. It has the same lessons shows for toddlers have but presented for adults.
It’s because cartoon writers are massive nerds who love Star Trek and old movies. It’s also why Rashomon is parodied in like, every cartoon ever as well.
I’m aware. It’s also cause stsr trek reliably delivered some kickass messages to those cartoon writers who needed something to justify the blatant commercialism and violence they were producing.
Paramount desperately fighting its writers and creatives to let it footgun itself. What else is new?
i wasn’t expecting anything out of the netflix acquisition but it’s still sad to see, prodigy was my favorite output from new star trek
Prodigy was a good show, but was anyone expecting a third season? The writers were very careful to wrap up season 2 in a way that felt final while also leaving an obvious opening for another season. But even getting season 2 felt like a stroke of luck that couldn’t happen again.
PRO finale spoiler
(I’ll also say that the PRO finale was upsetting to me, because it brought the background story of Picard season 1 into a show that I cared about and considered part of my headcanon.)
