So I was forced to sign up with a quit website through checks notes New South Wales, Australia.
Seriously, how hard is it to have a simple website that can track quitting something? Not everything has to be a stupid app on your dumb phone that spies on you.
Do you even need an app for that? Why give a company access to such private info? Just use a pen and paper.
From my own experience, number go up helps. One of the times I tried to quit drinking (six months no alcohol! As of May 1st!) I used an app. I didn’t like that it phoned home and had ads, so I wrote my own. It was exceedingly simple, had a hard coded start time, and was a little ugly. But number went up and it helped keep me in line.
My ass would lose it or forget tbh
Add a daily task to your calendar and mark it as done before you go to bed.
Are you on android? you can download an app on a PC as an apk file and transfer it to the phone by usb cable.
Here is the apk for Habit Maker which is an app that will probably work for you built by @dessalines@lemmy.ml

You got this comrade ❤️ im cheering for you
Thanks
I use Table habit which is open source and available on fdroid and works on other platforms as well. There are other options on fdroid like habit mamer, grit, habit builder, kokudo, loop habbit tracker, habo, habits and githo which are free open source and don’t spy with optional sync options. I think you can also self host habitica. You can download the apk and install through adb on android. Apple has other ways and on pc there are plenty of options on linux. Bupropion and tapering off with puff count should help.
