I was pretty into flying back when whoops were new but stopped for financial reasons. Recently, friend got his license and I caught the bug again watching his videos.

Got this Mobula7 and have been having a blast. My old box headset has an awful receiver but I got a crazy deal on some Fat Sharks that should be here soon.

I also just moved to a place much better for flying - I can fly to a park without passing any private property.

I’ve been binging Joshua Bardwell’s videos and, of course, already thinking about what I want to buy next. Thinking about a monitor or a second cheap headset for other people to watch.

I haven’t geeked out this much on a new (or rediscovered) hobby in awhile and instead of spamming my friend, I decided to post here and maybe get this community going.

Anyone else on Lemmy into quadcopters/FPV?

It’s in my future for sure but I didn’t want to jump back INTO digital because there’s tons of conflicting information. Digital is twice the price and was hard to justify spending that much without having seen it myself to compare.

The aforementioned friend flies analog and DJI. I’m waiting for him to get an o4 unit as he said I’d for sure notice the lag on his cinewhoop (which has a…3? I forgot)

If you’re doing cinematic flying the lag isn’t gonna be a big deal for you. At this point I’d only recommend analog for racing or doing lots of tricks/freestyle, and even then digital is really good. Fair point tho, it is pricey. I think you’d appreciate the range and clarity of picture with digital.

I’ll mostly be flying freestyle with the mob7 though I’m considering something like a cinewhoop for just cruising around!

I sure wish DJI would release a headset with a rapidfire slot. I’d pay a premium for it!

They have adapters that you can plug the module into the DJI goggles. I tried it with a black sheep and I can’t remember why, but I didn’t like it. I think the screen was too small or something.

I think I remember reading that there’s also a delay with using adapters, too. Not a TON but enough to notice
