      I associate patchouli with a crush I had on a girl in the fifth grade. So, I still like it.

      I didn’t know the scent was patchouli until about eight years ago, when fate put me and a friend in the right place at the right time. A woman wearing the scent walked past us, and I was able to ask my friend what the scent was, and she knew. Until then, it was a mystery for me for 40 years–I’d occasionally catch a whiff and recall happy memories, but didn’t know the name.
