Took my car out for its springtime shakeout drive. Pretty excited to get some miles on it here in NY now that the weather is finally nice.

Yes and no. It’s fun to show off but driving is okay. No power steering, dealing with late 70s tech, it’s a 5-speed so I HATE driving in traffic, normal classic car maintenance, and a lack of people who can work on it.

But lemme tell you: the moment I pop the doors, people come out the woodwork. Any time I get gas I have to pad the stop by 10-min for the inevitable person who’ll come up and ask me about it.

Oh for sure. I’ve seen some great mods (twin turbo, Northstar engine swap, etc) and with a proper engine, the car MOVES. You’re so low to the ground and the car has excellent handling, so it’s quite ready for more HP.

I’ve seen two companies offering drop-in EV replacement mods and lemme tell you: it’s tempting. My Ioniq 5 does 0-60 in 4 seconds. The Delorean as-is does it in 12-13 seconds. So if I got the DMC to a ~6S 0-60, it would easily handle it and be crazy-fun to drive.

EV conversion would be great. This way you could drive the powertrain with Mr Fusion as well, that would make time travelling less cumbersome.

Its funny, I like traffic with a manual better than an automatic. I can just idle along, control speed almost fully with the gas. Play the game where I see if I can roll to a stop going up hill and apply brake just as I stop.

Helps if you have lots of low end torque. I know my Scirocco 16V hated that low speed, but 2L Fiats you can drive almost without ever using the clutch, idling along.

Saw one of those the other day with my kid! Had to blow his mind that the wrangler is likely as fast or faster than the delorean.

I remember these from the day! I can honestly see the Cybertruck being the 2060s DeLorean. Hated in it’s time, classic (but a PITA) in the future.

LOL. Musk WISHES he had even 1% of the design skills as Giorgetto Giugiaro. One car is a classic, the other is a “I have a small dick and want to marry Elon” statement.
