Half the pharmacies in town are refusing to dispense my sister’s lisdexamfetamine prescription because she doesn’t have an existing “maintenance prescription” with that pharmacy.

They (presumably) don’t want any patients who receive only a controlled substance from them for fear of the DEA accusing them of being a pill mill.

What if someone doesn’t have any other prescriptions? Or they do but their regular pharmacy is out of stock? Every year it’s some new bullshit.

    what the hell

    i wonder if this is partially ableism, that if you’re not taking a maintenance prescription (prescription you take daily), they won’t give you your treatments because clearly there’s no other reason for someone to not take a daily drug but take other things if they’re mentally ill/disabled

    for a while i took hormones that i take once every few months for PCOS, i wonder if they wouldn’t sell me that too or if it’s one of the good drugs thinking-about-it
