I don’t understand why Trump doesn’t like the CIA, they aren’t that different from him in their head (though I am sure they tell themselves they are).

I mean for one, they both love to topple economies and democratically elected governments with poorly thought through schemes that end up making everybody less safe.

Ok but who do you think he’s going to fire, and who do you think he’s going to keep on? Do you think this will make the CIA better or worse? Keep in mind, none of his “downsizing” efforts have actually saved any money so far. Expect the CIA to have as much money as they need to do whatever Trump wants them to do.

They’ll have enough to do whatever Donald Trump wants them to do, and nothing to do anything Trump doesn’t want them to do. So yes to terrorism and destabilization, but only for the countries that are unaligned with Trump and his owners.

I think there’s no need for double agents anymore. Just fill the CIA with Russians, no one will bat an eye.

He will use this to stack the agency the way he stacked the courts. He’ll turn all the three letter agencies into his personal Stasi.

      This is not a win

Were the Stasi involved in any coups? I don’t know. If they weren’t and if their violence was merely towards domestic enemies, then this is at least unintentional harm reduction by the Trump administration.

The staff reductions would take place over several years and would be accomplished in part through reduced hiring. No outright firings are envisioned. The goal of a roughly 1,200-person staff reduction includes several hundred individuals who already have opted for early retirement, the person familiar with the matter said.

Not as funny as it could have been.
