These things we need to pay more attention to. And I mean we, globally. It doesn’t make for good headlines, because one needs to explain how US government works. But these are the leverage points that start the undoing of democracy. Yes yes, it’s already hardly democratic anymore, but right now there’s still a chance that the nightmare ends come next election.

We sort of know how it works, you don’t need to explain it. People in other countries have education about the civics of many nations, and obviously most of us pay attention to US politics. Go ahead and assume we know the basics of what is happening.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_of_the_Long_Knives

Although Hitler presented no evidence of a plot by Röhm to overthrow the regime, he nevertheless denounced the leadership of the SA.[40] Arriving back at party headquarters in Munich, Hitler addressed the assembled crowd. Consumed with rage, Hitler denounced “the worst treachery in world history”. Hitler told the crowd that “undisciplined and disobedient characters and asocial or diseased elements” would be annihilated.

At this point its pretty obvious Karma’s not real, some of the shittest people have and still do live the best lives, and some of the best intentioned people have lived the shittest lives. It’s js copium for good people with unfortunate circumstances.

it is. requires a two-thirds vote.

only six have ever been booted from the house. the most recent was george santos in 2023, the only republican to have been.

Because Trump’s first term and 100 days of his second has shown him to be a stickler for obeying the law.

They redefined “calendar day” to not include any days for the remainder of the session. We aren’t that far off from this kind of bullshit at all.
