So many class little tricks in the Irish keyboard layout.
Surprisingly, iOS has the ponc séimhithe built in if you use the “Gaeilge” keyboard (which has the same layout as the English one). My parents are on Android and can’t get a fada on a vowel.
I use international Dvorak (ABC - Extended) on macOS which supports the accents. There’s an extra step, though, which is annoying:
option + e + <vowel> = <vowel> with a fada
I can’t do a ponc séimhithe. I’d have to make a custom keyboard layout.
Ubuntu had great support for Gaeilge last time I used it, although I never tried the ponc séimhithe.
You can get a fada on Android by long-pressing the key.
Thanks. I should check again what the problem was (I thought we tried that).
