    While not much of an issue with the SNES and 64, the NES would very easily read garbage off your cart if the connector pads had dust on them producing fucked up visuals, boot loops, and other issues that broke the game. Blowing into the cart removed the dust, but introduced humidity which is why, officially, it was bad.

      It would oxidise the contacts resulting in long-term issues. The magical effect that people believed was the result of blowing was actually just the frictional motion of the cart sliding along the internal contacts.
