Five conservation groups write to the first minister opposing the Berwick Bank development.

Conservation groups are urging ministers to reject plans for an offshore wind farm which the developer predicts will kill tens of thousands of seabirds.

Five charities, led by RSPB Scotland, have written to the first minister to argue that approving Berwick Bank in the Firth of Forth would undermine efforts to protect nature.

SSE says it has already amended its designs to minimise any potential risks to Scottish seabirds.

    Estimates ranged from 4 to 18 birds killed per turbine per year.

    Owned cats range from around 4 to 30+ birds killed per year. One every few weeks or months.

    Cars: Estimated that 60 million to 200 million are killed by automobiles every year.

    If we are concerned about bird numbers, we should probably start banning pet cats first.

      You know what’s going to threaten way more birds than all those things put together? Climate change.

      I agree that outdoor cats should be banned as well.

        Absolutely, I just wanted to add things that they could talk about right now that would make a bigger difference, with stats that are happening today.

        Campaigning against wind farms, but not trying to dissuade pet owners just shows where their priorities really are.
