The Last Ship

President Obama dies of the Red Flu. Joe Biden is sworn into office on Air Force One and contracts the flu from Jill Biden on the way to Camp David and dies one week later. Speaker of the House Kelly Geller becomes acting president until she dies of the Red Flu. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Jeffrey Michener then became acting president and appointed Howard Oliver as VP. Michener is murdered, and Howard Oliver becomes president. Chief of Staff Allison Shaw holds actual power due to a coup. President Oliver regains control of the government and returns to power. At some point Oliver dies and is replaced by his VP, Joshua Reiss, the 49th president of the United States.

President Bill Carney was the last elected president of the US. Most likely elected in the 2016 presidential election. In 2018, Carney turns into a zombie on national television. President Lindsay Barton can be assumed to be the last acting president while the country was still in any state of order, as she managed to sign Emergency Executive Order Section 7. There are several dubious claims to the office. Sketchy McClain claims to be the last in a fictional line of succession, being the 357th president under the name Thurston Howell IV. John J. Lannister claims to be the actual president, and the 2 have an election where Doc comes out as the winner.

The most legitimate claim to the office was Jane Carlson, who was assistant to the Secretary of Labor during the Carney Administration. She claimed to be the 234th president.

Designated survivor

Cornelius Moss was the 44th president. President Robert Richmond 45th is killed along with all but 2 members of Congress in the capital bombing. Sec. of Housing and Urban Dev. Tom Kirkman becomes president. He appoints surviving congressman Peter MacLeish as VP. He briefly acted as acting president during Kirkman’s surgery. MacLeish was killed by Beth. Ellenor Darby was appointed as the next but left office. Aaron Shore was the final VP during Kirkman’s time in office.

President Joshua T. Adams became president after the president and all other members of higher government were killed by aliens.
