Typical Trump, trying to put himself at the centre of the universe. While his actions in the US and his statements about Canada are important context, the reality is that PP himself is polarizing, that JT resigned, and that Carney acts like an adult and has important skills. Canada is a complex nation and a functioning democracy. People vote the way they vote for all kinds of reasons. Trump is simple minded and single minded. This isn’t all about him.

The reality is that people in Canada were motivated to vote. Spinning that isn’t as important.

It’s not all about him, no; but my understanding is that conservatives in Canada massively underperformed yesterday, and the analysis seems to point to mobilization against Trumpism.

How it plays in U.S. politics

To the extent that Canada’s election will make news in the U.S., it will be presented as a story about Donald Trump – as a personal repudiation on the eve of his 100th day in office.

    cont with examples

This impressed me to see acknowledged by CBC.

Was there a strategy here? I cannot see one except to increase antagonism across the border to justify invasion

Felon Drink Bleach will even proudly showcase his remarkable failures as repackaged “victories.”

Eliciting awkwardness, Canada and the world owe him thanks for this outcome that prevented what was thought to be a certain win for Antivax Nazi Mini-trump’s party. Moreover, Mini-trump appears to have lost his own riding after two decades of zero legislative accomplishments. (How he even kept it that long, with little more than vitriolic wailing is its own sad story, but at least we seem to be through that now.)

Incidentally, a victory for Canada can be seen as a victory for the democratic world during this dawn of fascism.

We have to keep protesting, hitting the streets, doing what we can - wherever we find ourselves. Thank you for posting this.
