Salman Rushdie is still alive, Elvis isn’t… Is there some historical context I’m missing?
I assume it’s that Salmon Rushdie was in hiding due to the Islamic Fatwa threats against him, and it’s a popular mythology that Elvis didn’t die and just faked his death to quit show biz.
So in this unlikely scenario they’re both hiding out together, for vastly different reasons.
It’s the Far side. It never really tries to make sense.
