    Geez, Edinburgh too? Is that connected to the mismanagement at Dundee or are these just coincidences?

      Not connected from what I can see. But there is obviously a culture problem with how these two institutions are being run. Edinburgh in particular has been hoovering up real estate and building also, is it a land lord or educator/researcher? Do they need to keep increasing student numbers? Do they have to operate with vast amounts of debt to paydown?

      “we need to let people go” basically.
      It’s a nice way of doing layoffs with financial incentives and generally causes less questions during further job interviews.

      It would be open to a department (say), allowing people to “leave on good terms” with a bit of extra cash.
      Once the voluntary redundancies have been sorted out, mandatory redundancies or layoffs would then be processed to meet whatever target
