Potentially equally testing has been the return of Trump to the White House. Has there any imperative from Lucasfilm to adjust the depiction of the Empire in light of a presidency that could be seen to mirror it?

honestly want the show to be timeless. My characters are based more on Trotsky than Trump. I’m fascinated by revolutions. If I tried to sell a movie script about a young revolutionary dying for the cause, no-one’s going to back me. In fact, I’m trying to get a $40 million movie made right now; everybody loves the script, but they all say it’s really original. So, I’m f----d. But if you tell it as Star Wars, you have a place to play.”

The complete inability of any Star Wars media to veer from the centre means its “revolution” much more resembles the multi-polar fights for national sovereignty, which inevitably end in the financial backers and middle class elements betraying the rest so that they can be the new landlords of their freed land. By aping so many real world examples Andor has brief flashes of realism but its completely aesthetic and surface level.

They use him as a shield, by design of their own making, to abondon social and more importantly economic reforms that might slight their major bribers.

See dems prop up police state - like actual CIA, MIC, FBI candidates while squashing soc dems in primaries, and even generals like Biden did in Michigan, then punch left crying about purity tests and Trump. Then spend their time giving concessions to Republicans and fascists.

Only when out ofnpower like now, do they ever feign leftist legislation and performative “marches” like they are the next MLK - mocking his memory and the memory of every other social and economic mover they kneecaped and murdered. bernie-chair

Libs think they are rebels, and that the scene on Yavin IV is gilroy portraying the “betrayal” of the purity culture left that didnt want to vooooote for kamala.

      That take is everywhere.

That said, is he now done with the Star Wars universe? “You never say never, but I certainly hope so,” he nods as we wind up our chat.

Dave Filoni can run a great show, but what separates Andor from his stuff is how much Gilroy just couldn’t give a fuck about Star Wars. And he doesn’t need to - he probably has a legion of nerds on staff to help him get all the universe details right lol

An absolutely incredible movie could be made about the rise and tragic fall of Trotsky.

Don’t know what the fuck this guy’s on about, though
