    No sympathy from me. Business people should be able to spot a sham. If they can’t, they shouldn’t be in business.

    Well it’s not how I imagined capitalism and wester hegemonic global dominance ending, but it seems fitting doesn’t it? Done in by an overzealous businessman incapable of rationally assessing any decision he makes. Very American way to go.

        I guess I knew academically that capitalism sews the seeds of its own destruction, but living through it is a different experience.

        I think he’s referring to the assumption most have had since the 80’s when this started really taking off in a bad way, which was corpo-fascism as a dystopia. We were definitely heading in that direction, and still kinda are, but Trump just kneecapped pretty much every US corporation in one fell swoop, for absolutely zero gain.

      They donated millions to Trump in exchange for future handouts, tax cuts, and deregulation. They’ll still get all that, of course, but they also got tariffs, chaos, and government programs too gutted and dismantled to assist them with programs they might depend on.
