Very frustrating that this stuff is perpetuated so esily because no anglophone bothers to check non anglo sources
same thing with ‘first person of colour in space’ which was definitely not a yank, but every englush source will tell you it was
What do you mean there is a world outside of the usa
It’s the USA and the expansion pack of Europe
The rest of the world is dlc.
a bunch of discourse about how early cosmonauts didn’t really “fly” their spacecraft just like how the billionaires don’t
AAAAHHH I HATE SPACE NERDS SO MUCH RIGHT NOW THERE IS OBVIOUSLY AND CLEARLY A MASSIVE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A COSMONAUT/ASTRONAUT WITH A TON OF RELEVANT QUALIFICATIONS WHO WAS CHOSEN BY A SPACE AGENCY AND A RICH PERSON WHO BOUGHT A TICKET AAAAAAAHHH
Imagine space agencies hiring random dudes to put them in the rocket like the only reason they make inhabited flights is to have a bag of flesh on board for reasons
Katie Perry was in space for 11 mintues. Valentina Tereshkova was in space 3 days.
Also a major factor in choosing her was she was a competitive parachutist and the Soviet Space program had you eject and parachute from high altitude rather than ride the capsule down. Which sounds intense but is a lot more straightforward and safe (if you know how) when you think about it.
Not to mention Valentina Tereshkova was the crew and thus deserves to be called an astronaut/cosmonaut, whereas Katy Perry was a passenger and does not.
Katy Perry jokes aside, all flight crews should be female. Since every kg of weight matters, sending women makes sense for reducing payload. Women have been shown to suffer less physical damage from extend time in space. It is low gravity, so physical strength is less important.
This is twink erasure and I will not stand for it
But will you lay down for it?
I’m willing to negotiate
have you considered child labor in spaaaaaaaaaace?
This is the premise of light novel and anime Rocket Girls

yeah but who’s gonna mansplain complicated ideas to them in space then?
I will do it over the phone
Houston we have a problem, but it would be great if you could just listen instead of always trying to solve things.
I deserve a ban.
I mean, I’m a dude and I’ve had to do a lot of work in the direction of listening more and trying less to find solutions when people tell me their shit, I don’t think that what you’re saying is ban-worthy. I still have a lot of work to do in that department, women have made that criticism of me and it’s 100% legit
The complicated ideas:
Sounds more like a job for robots. I really think we need to collectively grow out of the Star Trek vision of space and truly embrace that we already exploring the universe in a much more practical way.
fuck that i want to jump out of a swimming pool on the moon and do a flip
Star Trek turned multiple generations of nerds into insufferable spaceX enjoyers.
