Harvard University sued the Trump administration Monday in a new escalation of the fight over institutional oversight, independence and federal funding for the Ivy League school.

University President Alan M. Garber said in a letter to the Harvard community that the administration’s recent actions — including a $2.2 billion federal funding freeze at Harvard, with even more money potentially on the line — “have stark real-life consequences for patients, students, faculty, staff, researchers, and the standing of American higher education in the world.”

“Make no mistake: Harvard rejects antisemitism and discrimination in all of its forms and is actively making structural reforms to eradicate antisemitism on campus,” the school’s lawsuit says. “But rather than engage with Harvard regarding those ongoing efforts, the Government announced a sweeping freeze of funding for medical, scientific, technological, and other research that has nothing at all to do with antisemitism and Title VI compliance.”

“Harvard’s Legal Team” likely includes not only the best law professors in the world, but also all the alumni working pro bono.

Before Trump started cracking down on law firms, that may not have been the case, but they have nothing to lose now.

That’s like saying “I’m sure The Eagles are great, but they’re definitely not The Steelers”

(That’s a handegg reference contrasting the Superb Owl champions and an arguably mediocre team from the same state)

Harvard should start cancelling the degrees for everyone in the Trump admin who went there.

Surprise! You’re no longer a lawyer!

That would get the “don’t fuck with us” message across.

Trump Admin doesn’t want people to wear face coverings. So are they going to tell the KKK that they can’t wear hoods anymore?

Didn’t he fail out of Harvard… or get his daddy to pay his way through?

I’m too lazy to learn more about a giant walking orange turd.

Make no mistake: Harvard rejects antisemitism anti-zionism and discrimination in all some of its forms and is actively making structural reforms to eradicate antisemitism free speech that some of our major donors don’t like on campus

    Fixed it for them.

Don’t get me wrong, they’re absolutely right to sue and I hope they win, but let’s not pretend that they’re the protectors of free speech they’re trying to portray themselves as.

harvard is a pipeline for students-lawyers/doctors-politicians, aside from that places like Harvard breeds elistist graduates which are negative benefit for the health industry/patients.

Why should they receive money from the state anyway? Its a private school for the elite. Funneling public money into the pocket of a diploma factory isn’t good use of the tax money anyway.

I disagree with Trump’s motivation, but I can’t disagree with the result. The money should go to free schools.
