    Mm. Yeah it’s not without it’s problems and I agree there is a big performative element BUT I do kind of feel it is doing its job a bit.

    It’s already realistically too late for the current drivers to get on the f1 ladder (if that’s their goal). Abby Pulling is the same age or older than a quarter of the current f1 grid.

    However, surely the job of W Series and F1 Academy (which is worse and watered down than W Series already was) is to provide more exposure and grow the numbers of girls taking up karting etc.

    To succeed in top flight racing you need speed but that is not enough, you need support in the form of driving development, management and obviously significant financial backing. It will take years but I’d argue any step is a step forwards at this stage.

    Look at what’s happening with women’s basketball and football now, it’s exploding. But you need much more money and time for racing compared to those sports.

    Anyway I’m interested to see how pulling does in GB3 this year, planning to go a race!
