I posted a tech demo for ai-generated image detection, that allows you to upload an image to see how likely it’s AI-generated, and I guess that rubbed some AI-bros the wrong way.
EDIT: Tech demo in question. It’s just a demo, and I’m sure the creators will get sick of randos just using it willy-nilly, so I am looking for a more permanent solution.
That actually sounds like a useful tool for combatting misinformation (eg AI posing as not AI).

Probably just someone with a pair of interests (AI art and mycology) and they want their own little internet fiefdom to rule over exactly how they see fit based on those interests.
Unwittingly creating an easily searched term so that the ugly images they post get fed back into the algorithm faster and make using the tech giant LLMs for things like identification of mushrooms even more impossible

I suspect drawing dreamy/psychedelic looking mushrooms is something AI can do fairly well so they’re going to do that a bunch for like wallpapers or something.

Yeah I have noticed that too. I think it comes from a fundamental misunderstanding of why phenomena like the luddites came about.
People really got to listen to This Machine Kills. It’s a great podcast from some modern very tech literate self proclaimed luddites.

The latter isn’t entirely true. It’s not as easy as text generation becuase there isnt something like ollama. But you can run an image generators locally if you’ve got a decent GPU. Stable Diffusion in particular can do this.

Just to be clear: I understood your first claim as AI causing workers to lose control of production through automation. But you were really saying was: because workers already don’t have control of production, AI is causing them to lose their jobs.

Piracy spaces and anything adjacent tend to be pretty far right. It’s bizarre.
Hell even just open source software communities can be fucked up. I’m working on a little project and one tool I came across proudly said “made in the USA”, took 2 seconds to find the dev is a nazi with AI slop plastered all over his profile.
It’s just kind of bizarre because these sorts of spaces in theory would go against what the right believes in but apparently not

They’ve been doing these bans for a while now. I noticed some (last week I think?) when I was browsing the modlog.
Those aren’t bans from db0, just from that specific community.
