What is the story behind the image being edited anyway? I’ve seen anti-communists use this as an own, and I’ve seen leftists meme about it, but I’m not actually sure what’s going on.
The guy in the photo is Nikolai Yezhov, head of the NKVD under Stalin during the great purge. He was edited out of official photos after his own trial and execution.
