For this Special Thursday Cinema Night, first up is The Square (2017), a satirical black comedy from Ruben Ostlund, the guy behind Triangle of Sadness (2023), and like that film, it skewers the bourgeoisie. More specifically, it follows an art museum curator’s escalating personal and professional crises as he attempts to open a new exhibit, the eponymous Square, a space in which people fulfill their altruistic desires. But what happens when everyone who enters is a shallow bougie jerk? Hilarity, apparently. Good reviews for this, so let’s check it out.

After that is And Now for Something Completely Different (1971), a compilation of the best sketches from Monty Python’s Flying Circus (1969), their iconic British TV comedy series. You will see the source of many of their most famous memes here, with most of the segments dealing in absurdist slapstick. This is considered the ideal entry point into the show for anyone hasn’t watched it, so let’s give it a whirl.

We’ll start at 8PM EST on Blorptube, right here:

Be there, comrades!
