I just tried and failed to upload an image too, perhaps there’s a problem (although the server feels snappy enough).

There is no limit. I will check if there is an error. Thank you for feedback.
Edit: Checked it, there is a 20mb per upload limit.
It feels very much like some timeout, since it’s always a little over 10 seconds. I’m uploading images that are at most a few hundred kB, so they’re not particularly big in bytes or pixels.
Just redeployed services. Can you check again?

What’s crashing? Part of Lemmy’s code, or a third-party thingy?
